History and Pedigree

Chartplan was formed in 2004 by Director Barry Kitcherside, however, the experience of Barry and his team dates back over 40 years and includes numerous prestigious and complex planning and architectural projects. Having worked for a number of architectural practices over the years, Barry capitalised on unused office and warehouse premises and was an early pioneer in the mid-1970s, identifying and transforming languishing sites into highly profitable residential housing. Holding position as planning and Technical Director for Frogmore Estates following a management buyout of the commercial arm Barry’s remit covered all pre-acquisition due diligence through technical and planning audits on land and investments. After due diligence, Barry continued to orchestrate and advance tactics in seeking to secure and deliver all required planning consents. Just some of these projects included;

• GLC County Hall & Number One Westminster Bridge

• Paddington basin

• Butlers-Wharf regeneration

• Regeneration of Gipsy Corner

• A quantum of Commercial Business Parks in strategic locations

• A considerable number of provincial and central London office developments

Over the years Barry and the team have forged excellent working relationships with the majority of the major planning officers and directors of the inner and outer London Boroughs and major Cities. Chartplan has access to the GLA, TFL and other significant strategic consultees all of which have helped Chartplan be where it is today.Our more recent list of planning consents and negotiated deals demonstrates our ability to deliver, more recent highlights include;

• Remodeling of Butlers Wharf Master Plan (London Borough of Southwark)

• Redevelopment of 1, Westminster Bridge Road and adjoining County Hall Island Block ( London Borough of Lambeth)

• Cheetham Hill Residential Master Plan ( Manchester City Council)

• Office HQ for Unilever ( Mole Valley District Council)
